Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Employment & Training
Services are designed to assist Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program recipients in obtaining employment, including entering employment and training activities that will promote self sufficiency. Once eligibility has been determined by the Department of Human Services, a referral is made to Workforce Solutions. Workforce Solutions staff must verify initial eligibility before a person may enroll.
Non-Exempt individuals ages 18 to 50 without dependents who are not working at least 20 hours per week or participating in a specified work program for at least 30 hours per week are eligible to receive benefits for only three months in a 36-month period. Participation requirements for SNAP E&T individuals includes a mandatory 30 hours per week of participation. If after 4 weeks of job search and training activities, participant does not secure employment, participant will be mandated to work fare activities which is in essence community service in order to develop skills necessary to become self sufficient.
