An eligible veteran is defined as an individual who served in the active military, naval or air service, National Guard, or a Reserve component, and who was discharged or released there from under conditions other than dishonorable as specified at 38 U.S.C. 101(2).

Feds Hire Vets contains information that will help individuals understand veterans’ preference, how Federal jobs are filled, and unique veteran appointing authorities designed to help veterans find a job. There is also information on education and training opportunities.

The US Department of Veterans Affairs website provides links to job openings,  information on how to apply for those positions, and additional information about the VA’s mission and culture.

The US Department of Veterans Affairs Careers website allows individuals to find open positions in the health care occupations and other career fields.  There is a complete listing of all jobs available in specific Veteran Administration sub-agencies such as Central Office, Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA), or National Cemetery Administration (NCA).  Individuals can apply online for vacancies on this site.
