Dear AEL Students,
We want to share an important update with you. Due to a delay in federal funding, some parts of our Adult Education Program are temporarily on hold. While we will continue to support a small number of GED students, we are not able to offer ESL classes, programs for Internationally Trained Professionals, or training courses at this time.
We know this is difficult news. We know that these programs are pathways toward your goals, dreams, and brighter futures. Please know that this pause doesn’t change how much we care about your success, your stories, and your resilience.
We are working hard behind the scenes to restore full services as soon as possible. In the meantime, we’re here if you have questions please call us at 979-595-2801 ext 2380.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Sincerely,
Brazos Valley Adult Education Program
Brazos Valley Council of Governments Honored with
2025 Impact Award from the National Association of Development Organizations
[07/22/2025] – [Brazos Valley Council of Governments] based in [Bryan/College Station Texas] has recently been recognized with a 2025 Aliceann Wohlbruck Impact Award from the National Association of Development Organizations (NADO) for the Electrical Pre-Apprenticeship Program
Workforce Solutions Brazos Valley collaborated with area employers to meet the growing demand for skilled tradespeople in the Brazos Valley region, Brazos Valley Council of Governments (BVCOG) and Workforce Solutions Brazos Valley launched the Electrical Pre-Apprenticeship Program in 2023. The program’s primary goal is to equip adult learners with industry-recognized credentials and job readiness skills that lead directly into Registered Apprenticeship Programs. Participants complete both OSHA-10 and NCCER Core curriculum certifications, building a foundation in electrical safety, tools, and practices. To ensure alignment with industry needs, BVCOG engaged regional employers, training providers, and workforce partners throughout the program’s design and rollout. Supported by a grant from the Texas Workforce Commission, the program aims to foster career development and contribute to sustained economic growth in the region. It targets barriers to entry for underserved populations by embedding the training within adult education services and connecting participants to apprenticeship sponsors. From October 2023 through June 2024, the program trained 121 students and helped enable them to achieve industry-recognized credentials, gain measurable skills, and achieve work-readiness certifications from the National Center for Construction Education & Research.

Presented annually, the NADO Impact Awards honor regional development organizations and their partners for strengthening communities, building regional resilience, and enhancing local economies through innovative approaches to economic and community development. NADO is a Washington, DC-based membership association of regional development organizations that promotes programs and policies that strengthen local governments, communities, and economies.
This year’s cohort included 90 impactful projects led by 79 organizations across 24 states. These award-winning efforts will be recognized during NADO’s 2025 Annual Training Conference, held this coming October in Salt Lake City, Utah. All selected projects are featured in an interactive StoryMap that showcases summaries, images, and key partners. The map is available at www.nado.org/2025impactawards/.
